“Sorry!”
– Ever had someone bump
into you and said that, then wondered why when it wasn’t even your fault?
You
didn’t consciously think “Oh I must say sorry”; it
was just a reaction to an action. This is the work of the subconscious mind.
The
action of the bump instigates a reaction of “Sorry”
before you have had time to even think who is to blame,
let alone what you really want to say.
The
subconscious mind is the area that holds all of these
thought processes, and as well as holding simple reactions
like the one above, it can also pick up ones that are more
complex that can have a detrimental effect on our lives.
Hypnosis
is a extremely relaxed and natural state, where the mind can truly
focus and subconscious thought processes, just like the one above,
can be accessed.
Hypnotherapy
uses the skills necessary to get to this natural state, then
utilizes the power of this part of your mind using suggestion
and/or analysis
to facilitate beneficial changes that are nothing
less than remarkable.
|
Unlike
the popular portrayal of Hypnosis on television and on stage, the
Clinical Hypnotherapist is there to facilitate positive change only.
He or she does not have or need ‘power’ over the client to make them do
anything 'theatrical', in fact quite
the opposite.
Hypnosis is perfectly
natural and safe. At all times during
the session
the person in therapy will feel completely comfortable, totally
conscious and in full control.
